Halloween Time

Halloween is my FAVORITE time of year. Not the Pumpkin spice side of things, but the DRESS-UP. To be your inner monster or to become a fictional/real persona.

We are taking this moment to talk about DRAGONS. Real life use of a child's fantastic imagination. Be it scary, sweet, or covered in sparkles. 

Mcalls Pattern M6185

Modifying this pattern to be a slim jumpsuit (onesie) with hood. 

The dragon in this child's mind is dark, mysterious, and fierce! RAWR!

I will be using the following fabrics from my favorite source... Fabric.com

Supply List:

Main fabric will be 3.5 yard of Sparkly Black 

Spikes/Claws/Tail 1 yard of Black broadcloth

Other supplies needed:

12" black zipper

Black thread

Elastic

Pellon Wonder-Under Paper-backed fusible web: this will make the dress neckline stay appealing. Use this to line the neck area, the mask, and the leg slits.

Pellon Easy-Shaper Fusible interfacing: this will be used to shape the boot covers and also parts of the mask. 

Dress, arm covers, and mask fabric is Telio Brazil Stretch ITY Jersey Knit in PLUM. This dress will be a pullover style piece. Easy to get into and no zipper hassle.

Cape fabric is Stretch Velvet Hunter GREEN. The cape will be attached at the neckline and flow over the shoulders. This is where the Interfacing plays a great role in holding shape as the cape adds weight.

Boot covers will be made with the Double knit Solid Black as well as the Kona Premium Cotton Jet Black for liner. The boot covers will have lining to add stability and shape. Yet, they will still have flex to them with the stretch of the jersey knit fabric.

 Making the mask was mathematically challenging. Challenge accepted :-)

 To reduce the weight of the cape: Half circle cape with added triangle pieces for the neckline.

Lengthened the boot to go slightly above the knee 

Added stitching detail to the back of the boot cover :-)

This set was an amazing journey for me. Multi piece Belly dance set, reversible, and Earthy. Then the fabulous White pant/bustle and underbust. Amy Celeste Young-Beard (Amaris Ziayanah) brings this piece much Beauty. She is a beautiful teacher, dancer, and soul. Recently in 2016, she performed the Winter Dance in the earthy toned costume set.

The lovely Rayvn Wynters Nyte of Australia in layered lace pants and under bust vest by Magpie. Other costume accessories put together by the dancer. Rayvn is an amazing make-up artist, dancer, and among many other things you have to check out her DOLLS

This set was my latest Belly Dance creation. Consisted of repurposed textiles, old dance bells, belt pieces, trinkets, and treasures. I had the pleasure of watching Silvia Salamanca perform in the Bra top and belt from this set.
